Goa Police has registered a case of unnatural death after the sudden demise of Indian cinema's famous and multifaceted actor Nana Patekar (75). This action has been taken under Section 194 of the Indian Civil Security Code (BNSS). The post-mortem of his body was conducted at Goa Medical College (GMC) to ascertain the exact cause of death. When Nana Patekar's condition became critical, he was taken to Manipal Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Unnatural death case and hospital procedure

According to doctors, Nana Patekar was brought dead to the hospital. When a person is brought to the hospital in a dead state, the hospital administration is required to inform the police. After this, under the legal process, the case is registered as a Medico-Legal Case (MLC) and post-mortem is conducted.

Initial investigation by doctors indicates that the cause of death of Nana Patekar could be cardiac arrest, as he already had heart disease and was taking medicine for it. A post-mortem was conducted at Goa Medical College to confirm the actual cause of death.


Last farewell with state honors

Nana Patekar was cremated with state honors at Donje village in Pune Rural on Thursday evening. The 75-year-old actor died on October 8 in Goa due to acute cardiac arrest. He was taken to Manipal Hospital, where doctors tried to save him and gave CPR for about 45 minutes, but he could not be saved.

Among those present were Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar, Eknath Shinde, Minister Chandrakant Patil, Union Minister of State Muralidhar Mohol and Congress leader Bhai Jagtap, who paid tribute by laying a wreath.

In terms of work, Nana Patekar was last seen in the Hindi drama-thriller web series 'Sankalp' starring Sanjay Kapoor, Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub and other actors were included. Some of her projects are yet to release, including Shraddha Kapoor's biographical drama 'Itha' (which will release on December 4, 2026) and Aneet Padda's horror-comedy 'Shakti Shalini'.
