To manage the anticipated surge in passenger traffic and ensure smooth journeys during the upcoming festive season, Indian Railways has announced the temporary addition of extra coaches on four key train routes.
The initiative aims to provide additional berths and alleviate crowding for travellers heading home for the holidays. The affected services include Train No. 12837 Howrah–Puri Super Fast Express, which will receive an additional Sleeper Class coach from Oct 11 to 16, 2026.
Similarly, Train No. 18045 Shalimar–Charlapalli East Coast Express will be augmented with an extra 3rd AC coach on select dates between Oct 10 and 16, alongside a Sleeper Class coach on Oct 12.
Other services receiving temporary upgrades include Train No. 18063 Santragachi–Yelahanka AC Express (one 3rd AC coach on Oct 15) and Train No. 18107 Rourkela–Jagdalpur Intercity Express (one Sleeper Class coach on Oct 16).
Passengers holding waitlisted tickets on these routes are advised to check their updated status as the extra capacity becomes active.
