More than 20,000 police and paramilitary personnel deployed in Delhi

New Delhi. Opposition 'India' alliance MPs will meet in the Central Hall of the Constituent Assembly on Friday and may then protest over the issue of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and alleged 'vote theft'. According to sources, the alliance MPs are waiting for an appointment from Rashtrapati Bhavan to meet President Draupadi Murmu. The opposition alliance has sought time to meet the President. If time is not available for a meeting by Friday, then all options for protesting against 'vote theft' have been kept open.

Opposition MPs have been called to the Central Hall of the Constitution House at 3 pm. Meanwhile, the Congress hit out at the government over the deployment of heavy security forces in view of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP)'s proposed protest on October 10, saying it reflects the government's level of “nervousness” after the last few days of protests by the 'India' alliance.

A senior official said that more than 20,000 police and paramilitary personnel have been deployed in Delhi ahead of the CJP protest. He says that no permission has been given for any kind of demonstration at Jantar Mantar. He appealed to the people not to participate in any unauthorized meeting.

Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh wrote on 'X', this clearly shows the level of panic of the government. Sources said that as part of the 'India' alliance's protest, the possibility of protesting outside Seva Teerth, Rashtrapati Bhavan, Vice President's residence and the residence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah can also be considered. Before this, Congress Organization General Secretary K. C. Venugopal had said that the 'India' alliance has sought an appointment with President Draupadi Murmu and is waiting for a response from Rashtrapati Bhavan.

According to Venugopal, the first request letter for the meeting was sent on October 2. After this, Rashtrapati Bhavan had asked for the names of the leaders attending the meeting. Accordingly, the alliance sent a request again on October 5, gave the names of the leaders and asked for time to meet on October 7, 8 or 9. He had said that the reply would be awaited till Friday.

Last week, the 'India' alliance had finalized a joint action plan on the issue of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Under this, it was decided to organize rallies at various places and take out 'Save Democracy' march. Opposition parties have been protesting in different ways every day for the last three days.
