India is a growing market for automobile brands, and that is one of the reasons why we have several new brands entering our market. With the rising demand for new-energy vehicles, we have also seen an increasing number of brands working on and launching such products in India. While some of these models are being launched by brands that are already present in the country, there are multiple brands that are officially planning to enter our market for the first time. Here we have a list of five such new car brands that are coming to India soon.
JSW Motors is the newly established passenger vehicle division of the Indian conglomerate JSW Group. The brand announced earlier this year that it intends to enter the market as an independent car brand. As part of the plan, JSW has partnered with Chinese car manufacturer Chery to bring rebadged versions of some of its models to India under the JSW badge.
This is probably going to be the first model that JSW might launch in the country. Testing of this SUV is currently underway in several parts of India. It is a boxy-looking premium SUV that is already on sale in several international markets. JSW is likely to call the T2 the Combat in the Indian market.
It gets a design inspired by SUVs such as the Land Rover Defender. The Jetour T2 will be launched as a plug-in hybrid SUV and will be powered by a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine. As this is a plug-in hybrid vehicle, the SUV will also have an electric motor and a large battery pack that is likely to offer an electric driving range of around 100 km.
The SUV will be sold as a CKD, and JSW is also setting up a manufacturing facility in Maharashtra.
The next SUV from JSW is the iCar V23 electric SUV. It is a rugged-looking SUV with design elements inspired by the likes of the Defender, Jeep Wrangler, and several other SUVs.

The Indian version will come with a panoramic sunroof and a couple of other cosmetic updates. It is not positioned as a premium product. It comes with a decent number of features, including a 15.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, leatherette upholstery, and a minimalist cabin design with exposed plastic panels in some areas.
It is available with two battery pack options. The smaller 59.93 kWh battery comes with a rear-wheel-drive setup and offers around 401 km of range. Meanwhile, the larger 81.76 kWh battery comes paired with an all-wheel-drive system and offers up to 510 km of range.
The third SUV from JSW that is expected to launch in the market is the premium mid-size Jaecoo J5. Like the other two models, it takes inspiration from Range Rover models and comes with a clean and premium-looking exterior design.

The J5 will be offered as a PHEV and EV in the market. The PHEV sold internationally gets a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine combined with an electric motor and a 1.83 kWh lithium-ion battery. In international specification, the petrol engine makes 143 PS and 215 Nm.
The EV will come with a 58.9 kWh to 60.9 kWh battery and offer a claimed range of around 400 to 460 km. This EV will generate around 211 bhp and 288 Nm of torque.
In terms of features, the J5 comes with a vertically oriented touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster, a 540-degree camera system, ventilated seats, electrically adjustable seats with a memory function, a panoramic sunroof, Level 2 ADAS, multi-zone climate control, and more.
Tata, which is one of the leading Indian electric car manufacturers, is planning to enter the luxury electric vehicle segment soon. Tata will be establishing a new entity or separate brand for these vehicles. This new range of luxury electric vehicles will be sold through a separate dealership network and is currently known by the name Avinya.
One of the EVs to be launched under the Avinya brand is the Avinya X. During the last Auto Expo, we got a glimpse of what the almost production-ready version of the Avinya X crossover could look like.

The Avinya X is going to be one of the first models under the new brand. It will be sold through a separate retail network. The Avinya X was initially rumoured to use Jaguar Land Rover’s EMA platform, but the latest reports suggest that the EV will use the Freelander platform, developed jointly by JLR and Chinese automaker Chery.
Jeep and Citroen have a presence in the Indian market, and both brands fall under the much larger Stellantis Group. It is a known fact that both Jeep and Citroen have been struggling in the Indian market. In order to recover from this, the group is now working on a new strategy.
Stellantis now plans to introduce electric vehicles in India. To achieve this, it has tied up with Chinese EV brand Leapmotor. Leapmotor was founded in 2015 in Hangzhou, China. Under the new joint venture, 51 percent of the stake is owned by Stellantis. The initial models are likely to be introduced as CKDs, while local manufacturing will depend on market demand.

The T03 is a compact electric hatchback that Leapmotor will be launching in the Indian market. It will compete with the likes of the Tata Tiago EV and MG Comet EV. Although it is an entry-level EV, the hatchback will come with features such as a touchscreen infotainment system, an electric sunroof, a minimalist dashboard design, Level 2 ADAS, air conditioning, and more.
It is expected to come with a 37.3 kWh battery pack offering a range of around 265 km, which should be suitable for city usage.
Next on the list is the C10 EV, which will rival the likes of the Creta EV, VinFast VF6, and MG Windsor EV in the segment. Like most Chinese brands, the Leapmotor C10’s design appears to be inspired by other SUVs.

It will be offered with a decent number of features and is expected to be powered by a 69.9 kWh battery pack offering a range of around 420 km.

The third EV that Leapmotor will bring to India is the B10 SUV. This SUV is already available internationally and comes with premium features such as LED headlamps, DRLs, tail lamps, and flush-fit door handles, which are commonly seen on modern EVs.
It is expected to be offered with 56.1 kWh and 67 kWh battery pack options.
Hyundai, as part of its new strategy, is evaluating the Indian market to introduce its luxury brand Genesis in India. At an investor-day presentation, the company confirmed the same, and the brand’s entry is expected to happen in 2027.
Genesis is expected to focus on SUVs and will likely sell its models as CKDs in India.
Genesis is expected to bring the GV80 SUV and Coupe SUV to India first. Hyundai has already trademarked the GV80 Coupe in India. The model is available in both standard SUV and coupe SUV formats.

The GV80 features Genesis’ signature crest-shaped grille along with a twin horizontal headlamp setup on either side. At the rear, the SUV gets a similar twin-lighting setup. The coupe gets a sloping roofline, while the standard SUV variant has a more traditional boxy design.
The Genesis GV80 is available with three engine options internationally: a 2.5-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 304 PS, a 3.5-litre turbo-petrol engine generating 380 PS, and a 3.5-litre engine paired with a 48V electric supercharger producing 415 PS and 549 Nm. It remains to be seen which engine options will be offered in India.
Denza is the luxury brand of Chinese carmaker BYD. The brand officially announced its entry into the Indian market recently and has also released a teaser for the same. Denza is likely to bring two EVs to our market.

The Z9 GT will be an electric station wagon that would make it a unique vehicle in the Indian market. It is a performance machine that comes with a massive 122.5 kWh battery pack and three electric motors producing 1,156 hp and 1,210 Nm of torque.
It can accelerate from 0–100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds and is claimed to offer a range of 600 km. It will be a luxury wagon, which means the car is expected to come loaded with premium features.

The D9 will be an electric MPV that will rival the likes of the MG M9 and Toyota Vellfire in the segment. The India-spec D9 is likely to get a 103 kWh battery pack with a front-mounted motor producing 313 hp and 360 Nm. The WLTP range for the D9 is rated at 520 km.
It will be a seven-seater luxury MPV with features such as three-zone climate control, a premium Dynaudio sound system, full leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable seats with ventilation and heating functions, ADAS, and much more.
