Policemen told CJP leaders that they are not allowed to protest at Jantar Mantar
New Delhi. The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) on Saturday claimed that Delhi Police in the national capital detained its leaders Abhijit Deepke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka from inside the plane as it landed. CJP leaders had arrived here from Mumbai to join the proposed demonstration at Jantar Mantar against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
In a video shared by CJP, Deepke can be heard telling the police officers who came inside the plane, we are here to arrest, come and arrest us. Before being taken into custody, the policemen told the CJP leaders that they were not allowed to protest at Jantar Mantar.
Deepke said that CJP leaders are being detained as if they are criminals. The party issued a statement condemning the alleged detention. It claimed that this was part of a pre-planned attempt to prevent its leaders from reaching the proposed protest site.
CJP termed this action as a violation of freedom of movement and demanded the immediate and unconditional release of the three leaders. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar is facing allegations of tampering with voter lists under the guise of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists and ignoring the objections of two associate election commissioners for making changes in 'Form 6', the voter registration document. CJP has called for protests regarding this issue.
