Ujjain. In the world famous Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple located in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, the process of Bhasma Aarti of Lord Mahakal started as soon as the doors of the temple opened at 4 am on Saturday. Amidst the Vedic chanting and worship, first of all the deities present in the sanctum sanctorum were worshipped.
After this, Lord Mahakal was anointed with Panchamrit made from milk, curd, ghee, honey, sugar and fruit juice. After ringing the first bell, Hari Om water was offered to Baba.
After consecration and worship, special decoration of Lord Mahakal was done. Silver Om, Bilvapatra, Rudraksh rosary and silver jewelery were offered to Baba.
Tripund and Trishul were decorated on the head, while the silver crown of Damru and Sheshnag increased the divinity of the adornment. Silver mundamaal and garlands of fragrant flowers were also offered to the Lord.
During the puja, Lord Ganesha, Mother Parvati and Lord Kartikeya were worshipped. After this, fruits and sweets were offered to Baba Mahakal.
Bhasma Aarti was concluded after Kapoor Aarti and Naivedya offering. Ashes were offered to Lord Mahakal on behalf of Maha Nirvani Akhara.
Darshan in corporeal form after offering ashes
According to religious belief, after offering ashes, Lord Mahakaal appears in formless form and appears before the devotees.
During the Bhasma Aarti, ashes were offered to the Jyotirlinga by covering it with a cloth. After this, the Lord was decorated and shown to the devotees.
Hundreds of devotees who came to attend the Bhasma Aarti on Saturday morning took the blessings of Baba Mahakal after having darshan. Chants of ‘Jai Shri Mahakal’ continuously echoed in the temple premises.
Devotees had darshan of Nandi Maharaj and whispered their wishes into his ears. In an atmosphere filled with devotion and faith, devotees were seen engrossed in the worship of Baba Mahakal.
