Supaul. As part of the campaign being run to stop drug smuggling in the district, Bhimpur police station took major action and recovered a total of 65 kg of ganja. Police have arrested three accused in this case. A Scorpio and a motorcycle have also been seized during the operation.
According to Sub-Divisional Police Officer Dilip Kumar, the first action was taken at around 9 pm on October 9 during vehicle checking at the check post in front of Bhimpur police station on State Highway-91. During this time, the activities of two persons riding a motorcycle coming from Chhatapur appeared suspicious. Police stopped them and searched them, in which 12 kg of ganja was recovered from the motorcycle. After this, the police arrested both the accused and confiscated the motorcycle.
At the same time, the second action was taken near the NH-91 road bridge located in Bhimpur Ward No. 5 at around 10 am on October 10. According to the police, the police team became suspicious after seeing a Scorpio vehicle coming from Kushwaha Chowk. After informing the vehicle inspection team, the Scorpio was stopped and searched. During the search, 53 kg of ganja was recovered from the vehicle. After this, the Scorpio was confiscated and its driver was arrested.
All three accused were arrested
According to the police, the arrested accused have been identified as Raman Kumar Jha alias Shambhu Kumar Jha (about 35 years), resident of Lalganj Tilathi of Chhatapur police station area, Dilkhush Kumar Thakur (about 32 years) and Adarsh Kumar (25 years), resident of Khojri Ward No. 7 of Baijnathpur police station area of Saharsa district.
In this regard, separate FIRs have been registered in Bhimpur police station and further legal action is being taken. Police are interrogating the arrested accused and are busy gathering information about the network related to ganja smuggling and other people involved in it. Raids are also being conducted at possible locations.
Supaul Police has clarified that the campaign against drug trafficking and illegal business will continue in the district and strict action will be taken against those involved in such cases.
