The controversy started when CJP leaders were detained ahead of the proposed demonstration in Delhi. CJP was going to protest against the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and alleged irregularities in the SIR of the voter list.

The family had accused the police
Deepke's family had alleged that he repeatedly requested the police to release him to attend his grandmother's funeral. But no action was taken on his appeal in time. According to the family, Deepke's grandmother Savitribai Shankarrao died in Hingoli district of Maharashtra. She was 85 years old and was ill for a long time. The family said that Deepke's return was necessary to attend the funeral. At the same time, Delhi Police rejected these allegations and said that they were informed about the death. Travel facilities were offered.
