Two accused arrested in encounter in case of murder of youth after kidnapping

Mathura: Police arrested two wanted accused during an encounter in the early hours of Sunday in the case of kidnapping and murder of Rajesh alias Rajan, resident of Sihora village of Jamunapar police station area. Both of them were shot in the legs in police retaliatory firing. The injured accused were sent to the district hospital for treatment. Police have recovered two pistols, cartridges and a bike without number plate from their possession.

Checking and police-miscreant encounter on Panigaon Link Road

According to the police, at around 3 am on Sunday, the team of Jamunapar Police and SOG was checking in front of the under-construction Krishna Signature Residential Colony near the underpass on Panigaon Link Road. Meanwhile, two youths were seen coming on a bike without number plate. When the police signaled them to stop, both of them started running on the unpaved road leading to the under construction colony. When the police team chased him, his bike slipped and fell. Seeing themselves surrounded, the accused started firing on the police team. In retaliation, both of them were shot in the leg, after which the police arrested them.

Inquiry revealed murder of Rajan and throwing his body in Yamuna.

The arrested accused have been identified as Navneet and Ravi Kumar, residents of Sihora village. According to the police, during interrogation, both of them, along with their associates, admitted to taking Rajan away in the car after a dispute at around 9.30 pm on October 5. The accused told that they had thrown Rajan into the Yamuna river in Shergarh police station area. The police are now investigating the role of other accused involved in the case and are searching for them.

Illegal weapons recovered from the accused, further legal action underway

CO Sandeep Singh said that both the accused were wanted in the case of kidnapping and murder of Rajan. He has been arrested after the encounter. Illegal weapons, cartridges and bike have been recovered from their possession. Further action is being taken in the matter.
