Bhandara News Due to the effect of El Nino, the weather patterns in the district are continuously changing. For the last few days, intense sunlight and humid heat during the day are troubling people, while the night temperature is also increasing. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of rain in the district after October 17. This sudden change in weather forecast has increased the concern of farmers.

At present, when the paddy crop standing in the fields is now completely ready for harvesting, if it rains, there is a possibility of loss of the paddy crop. Farmers seem worried about the possibility of rain.
This year the farmers of the district have already faced a lot of irregularity of rain. Due to less rainfall at the beginning of Kharif season, drought like situation had arisen in the district. In many places, planting of paddy was delayed and later due to excessive rains, the incidence of pests and diseases on the crops increased.

Somehow the farmers managed the crop and now that the crop is ripe, the threat of unseasonal rain is looming again. Presently the paddy crop is in mature stage.
Harvesting has started in many fields and crops are ready to be harvested at many places. At such times the crop does not need water at all. If there is heavy rain during this period, the fields will be flooded, due to which the harvested crop may rot and the standing crop may fall on the ground. Due to this, there is a possibility of blackening of the color of the grains and huge decline in production.
According to agricultural experts, this rain after the withdrawal of monsoon can be beneficial for Rabi crops, but will prove to be harmful for Kharif mature paddy.
For the common people, this rain will provide relief from the heat of the day and will increase the coolness in the weather. At present the farmers are gazing towards the sky. The administration and agriculture department have also advised farmers to keep an eye on the weather forecast and make arrangements to keep the harvestable crops at a safe place as soon as possible.
