69000 teacher recruitment: Reservation discrepancy case listed in Supreme Court

Lucknow. The case of reservation discrepancy in 69000 assistant teacher recruitment in Uttar Pradesh is once again listed for hearing in the Supreme Court on 13 October 2026. As per the case status available on the Supreme Court website, the diary number of the case is Ravi Kumar Saxena vs State of Uttar Pradesh 38554/2024. The case was heard by Justice S.V.N. Bhatti and Justice N.V. Listed before the bench of Anjariya.

Amarendra Patel, who is leading the reserved category candidates, has demanded from the government that justice should be provided to the eligible candidates by ensuring that reservation rules are followed in recruitment. Amarendra Patel said that during the hearing held in the Supreme Court on July 21, an affidavit was presented by the department. In this, the data of total 8270 posts is given along with the list. According to him, in the affidavit, 3324 posts have been mentioned as belonging to Other Backward Class (OBC) candidates who should have been appointed, but could not be appointed till now. At the same time, candidates have raised questions regarding 4946 posts.

Patel says that in the departmental affidavit, these posts have been mentioned as related to such candidates who were called for appointment, but did not take charge. The question of the candidates is that if the concerned candidates did not join, then why their names still remain in the list and why the eligible candidates are not being appointed on these vacant posts.

Amarendra Patel said that if the government takes the initiative to appoint 4946 posts along with 3324 posts, then reserved category candidates can get relief. He said that a way should be found to appoint eligible candidates on a total of 8270 posts. He appealed to the government to take effective steps in the interest of reserved category candidates keeping in mind the hearing on October 13, so that the candidates who have been waiting for justice and appointment for a long time can get relief.
