Demonstration in Delhi: Indian Youth Congress protesters detained by police

New Delhi. Indian Youth Congress workers protesting outside Sansad Marg police station were detained by Delhi Police around 4 am on Friday. Congress leader BV Srinivas told IANS, “Delhi Police is so scared right now that it is avoiding filing FIRs. The whole world has seen how the police treated our women inside the bus, how they treated Athira and Ritu and even beat them up inside the police station. The government is putting democracy at stake for Gyanesh Kumar. But we Congress workers are not afraid. We will fight and win.”

Indian Youth Congress chief Uday Bhanu Chib said, “They attacked peaceful protesters and indulged in violence. An FIR should be lodged against the Delhi Police officers who did this. We sat here the whole night, but no FIR was lodged. Instead, they are now detaining us. This clearly shows that the Delhi Police is compromised. They are working under the compromise and beating the youth and students of the country.”
