Russia-Ukraine War: The war continues between Russia and Ukraine. In the last few days, both the countries have intensified attacks on each other's targets. Meanwhile, the diesel deal between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin has created a stir across Europe. Donald Trump has also advised Ukraine not to attack the refineries of rival Russia. Now Donald Trump went a little further and said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is not a good person. He said that it is more difficult to deal with the President of Ukraine than with the President of Russia Putin. Donald Trump said these things in an interview given to Rob Finnerty of 'Newsmax'.
Donald Trump said he believes the war will eventually end with an agreement, but he claimed Ukraine's president is not ready to reach an agreement. US President Donald Trump said in an interview on Thursday (October 16, 2026) that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is not a person with whom it would be good for us to deal. He criticized Ukraine's new attacks on Russian oil refineries, calling them shameful.
At that time Ukraine had again started attacks on Russian energy targets. Donald Trump argued that Moscow's attacks on energy infrastructure had never stopped. Finnerty asked- 'I thought you had asked President Zelensky not to do this.' To this Donald Trump replied- 'I told you.' Zelensky is not a person with whom it would be good for us to deal. When asked whether he had lost confidence in Zelensky, Donald Trump said he hoped an agreement would end the war, but claimed the Ukrainian president was not ready to reach an agreement.
Trump said- Zelensky ruined Ukraine
Donald Trump said that I think that in the end some agreement will definitely be reached, but he will not do so with Zelensky. He doesn't want to compromise. He says that he wants to compromise, but in reality it is not so. No, I am not a big fan of Zelensky. They have ruined that country. Donald Trump also held former US President Barack Obama partly responsible for this war. He referred to Russia's annexation of Crimea in 2014, which occurred during Obama's presidency.
Donald Trump again claimed that if the US elections had not been rigged, this war would never have happened. This is the saddest thing. Ukraine has lost a lot of its people and so has Russia, but Russia is a very big country. When he was asked whether this war would end before he left office? On this Donald Trump said that it should end soon. He also said that he found Zelensky more difficult to work with than Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Zelensky criticized Trump's stance towards Russia
In an interview with Piers Morgan on Wednesday, Zelensky said he felt betrayed by Trump's diesel deal with Putin. He described it as unfortunate to lose a strong partner like America and said that doing business with the Russian President is not standing on the right side of history.
Let us tell you here that amidst tense relations with Donald Trump, Zelensky met NATO chief Mark Rutte in Brussels. Before attending the European Union (EU) summit on Friday, he also held bilateral meetings with several European leaders. Earlier, the Ukrainian President had told 'Financial Times' that the decision to stop attacks on Russian oil refineries is now over. He argued that Moscow was not following the agreement announced by Trump, under which it was said to stop attacks on energy infrastructure.
