Kuldeep Yadav did not get a chance against West Indies, Ashwin said – lack of common sense in the decision

New Delhi

Kuldeep Yadav has been dropped from the playing eleven after the first two matches of the T20 series against West Indies. Fast bowler Prince Yadav got a chance to play in his place in the third and fourth matches. In the first match of the series held in Lucknow, Kuldeep took two wickets for 33 runs. He was expensive in the second match and gave away 53 runs. After Indore, the Indian team did not play Kuldeep in Hyderabad also.

R Ashwin surprised by the decision

Former Indian team off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is surprised by Kuldeep Yadav sitting on the bench. He said on his YouTube channel, ‘It is quite surprising, because on a ground where some bounce is expected, and I know this ground has not always been very helpful for spinners, but even there the West Indies batsmen are struggling to understand his googly and leg-spin.’

Attack on team management

R Ashwin questioned the logic behind Kuldeep being left out against an opposition that was finding it difficult to understand the variations of his deliveries. He further said- If you are keeping Kuldeep out against him, then there seems to be a lack of common sense in it. This is quite surprising, because I think his presence could have made a difference of 15-20 runs.

Ashwin admitted that it was right to keep Kuldeep out in the third match due to the small field. He said- I was surprised. Kuldeep was not selected in Indore and I will still support that decision because I can understand that the field there is small. But you are making it an issue by saying that India lost in Ranchi because of Kuldeep. This in itself is wrong.

Kuldeep Yadav’s record is strong

Kuldeep Yadav is one of the most effective bowlers in the world in T20 International cricket. He has dismissed 98 batsmen in just 56 matches. He also has a chance to become the fastest Indian bowler to take 100 wickets. Arshdeep Singh had taken 100 wickets in 64 matches. Kuldeep has taken 5 wickets in the match twice, his economy is 7.11 and average is 14.2. He takes a wicket almost every 12th ball in this format.
