Let us know what things should be kept in mind to make soft and fluffy puris for Kanya Puja.
Try these tips to make puffy pudiya
- Knead the dough with lukewarm water: To knead the dough of Puri, use lukewarm water instead of very cold water. Knead the dough by adding water slowly and make sure that the dough gets mixed well. This may help keep the dough soft.
- Knead soft dough: To make puris soft, keep in mind that the dough should neither be too hard nor too loose. To make the puris soft, add 1 to 2 teaspoons of ghee while kneading them. By adding ghee the puris become soft and tender from inside.
- Set for 20 minutes: Instead of making puris immediately after kneading the dough, keep it covered for about fifteen to twenty minutes. During this time the dough gets set and it becomes easier to roll the puris. After the stipulated time, knead the dough once again with light hands. This will soften the dough and make the puris soft.
- While rolling, keep this in mind: After this, make balls out of it and roll the puris. While rolling the puri, keep in mind that it should neither be rolled too thin nor too thick. It puffs up easily if it is of medium thickness.
- Take care of the temperature of the oil: To fry the puris, the oil should be very hot because if put in cold oil, the puri will not swell and will absorb the oil, hence keep the gas flame on high.
