Apple’s first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, has witnessed strong demand in India, with the device reportedly selling out within an hour of pre-orders opening on October 16. Customers placing fresh orders are now seeing estimated delivery dates extending to January 2027.
The rapid sell-out comes ahead of the smartphone’s official retail launch on October 23. Early buyers may receive their devices around the launch date, while those who missed the initial pre-order window could face a significantly longer wait.
iPhone Duo pre-orders sell out quickly in India
Pre-orders for the iPhone Duo opened at 5:30 pm IST on Friday. Within an hour, delivery estimates reportedly shifted to January, indicating that initial stock was quickly exhausted.
India was not the only market to witness a swift response. In the United States, the initial stock of Apple’s foldable smartphone reportedly sold out within 15 minutes of pre-orders opening.
However, the extended delivery timelines do not necessarily reflect overall sales figures. Apple has not publicly disclosed the number of pre-orders received or the size of its initial inventory.
iPhone Duo price in India
The iPhone Duo is positioned at the premium end of Apple’s smartphone lineup, with a starting price of ₹2,99,900 for the 256GB variant. The higher-storage models are priced considerably more.
The prices of the different variants are as follows:
- 256GB: Rs 2,99,900
- 512GB: Rs 3,24,900
- 1TB: Rs 3,74,900
- 2TB: Rs 4,49,900
With the top-end 2TB model priced at ₹4,49,900, the iPhone Duo is among Apple’s most expensive smartphones. In comparison, the iPhone 18 Pro series starts at ₹1,64,900.
In the US, the foldable smartphone starts at $1,999. Apple is also offering eligible customers instalment plans and promotional payment options in India.
After all the memes, overpriced debates, inflation, and whatnot, the #iPhoneDuo is sold out in India. Book now, and get it latest Jan 23, 2027 (yes, 90+ days waiting).
This shows the appetite for tech and an aspirational product from @Apple. Some might be early adopters, some might be resellers who would take advantage of wait times and sell it an even more premium.

iPhone Duo specifications and features
Beyond its foldable design, the iPhone Duo features a 5.4-inch cover display and a 7.6-inch inner display. Both screens use Super Retina XDR technology, support ProMotion and offer peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits.
The device is powered by Apple’s A20 Pro chip and features a vapour chamber cooling system. Its camera setup includes two 48MP rear cameras and a 12MP Center Stage front camera, alongside an under-display FaceTime camera for use when the phone is unfolded.
The iPhone Duo runs iOS 27.1 and supports Apple Intelligence features. Its larger inner screen also enables Split View, allowing users to work with two applications side by side.
Despite its foldable form factor, the device measures 5.2mm when unfolded and 11.3mm when folded, with a weight of 254 grams. It also carries an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. Apple claims up to 31 hours of video playback on the inner display.
Connectivity and charging features include USB-C, 25W MagSafe charging with Qi2 support, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0 and eSIM-only connectivity. The smartphone is available in Star White and Night Sky colour options.
