PEAK launches on PlayStation 5 on October 22, 2026, bringing its cooperative climbing and survival gameplay to Sony’s console. The game is also launching on Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 on October 22, with crossplay connecting those console versions with players on Steam.
According to the PlayStation Blog announcement, the PS5 edition includes content updates, biomes, and items added since the game’s original release.
PEAK was developed collaboratively by Aggro Crab and Landfall, which together operate as Team PEAK. The game originally launched on Steam on June 16, 2025.
Players take on the roles of nature scouts stranded on a mysterious island. To escape, they must work together to climb the mountain at its centre, navigating hazardous environments and managing limited resources along the way.
Climb With Friends Through Crossplay Co-Op
PEAK supports solo play or co-op for up to four players, with crossplay across its supported platforms. Crossplay allows Steam, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 players to climb together. This gives friends using different supported platforms the opportunity to join the same adventure.
Cooperation is central to the experience. Players must navigate difficult terrain, manage environmental hazards, and assist teammates when injuries or other setbacks make climbing harder.
Mistakes can leave individual scouts injured or unable to continue, making cooperation and resource management important to the group’s progress. Players must balance their own advancement with helping teammates and choosing routes that give everyone a better chance of reaching the summit.
Escape a Mysterious Island
PEAK places players in the role of nature scouts who become stranded on an unfamiliar island. Their objective is to reach the top of the mountain at its centre and find a way home.
Each ascent takes players through four biomes, while the PS5 version includes the additional biome content added since PEAK’s original PC launch. Different environments introduce new obstacles and require players to adapt their climbing strategies.

Players must identify safe routes, help teammates through difficult sections, and keep moving while managing the threats around them. Rushing towards the summit is not always the best approach, as the group also needs to account for injuries, food supplies, and changing environmental conditions.
The challenge comes from balancing progress with survival. Players who move too quickly may leave teammates behind, while groups that fail to manage their resources can struggle to complete the climb.
Survival Mechanics Make Every Climb Risky
Survival is a central part of PEAK’s gameplay. Players need to scavenge for food, navigate environmental hazards, and manage injuries while climbing.
Hazards include poison clouds, storms, and hostile creatures such as birds and zombies. These threats can make routes more difficult and force players to change their plans.
Injuries also affect a scout’s ability to continue. Taking damage reduces stamina, making further climbing more challenging and increasing the risk of falling behind.
Players must therefore pay attention to their own condition as well as the needs of the group. Finding food, managing stamina and supporting injured teammates can be just as important as choosing an efficient route to the summit.
Custom Runs Let Players Adjust the Difficulty
PEAK offers Custom Runs that let players make the experience easier or harder according to their preferences. This allows groups to choose a challenge that suits their experience and the kind of climb they want to attempt.
Custom Runs can also enable additional gameplay modifiers. One option is a physical “kick” gameplay modifier that lets scouts knock their friends around. This is separate from the host’s normal ability to remove players from a lobby.

These customisation options add variety to repeat runs, allowing groups to change the conditions of their climbs rather than following
