Chandigarh. Digital fencing work has started on the India-Pakistan International Border adjacent to Punjab. This step has been taken to stop infiltration, smuggling of weapons and drugs. This will also curb infiltration activities from across the border. This fencing has been installed at many places on the border of the two countries adjacent to Punjab.
It is a strong iron wall with holes and a cobra wire installed on top. Its objective is to strengthen surveillance with modern technology along with traditional fencing. It is equipped with sensors, thermal cameras, laser technology and anti-drone systems. The said fencing has been installed in many parts of the border of about 550 kilometers adjoining Punjab. It will also sense every activity of the enemy.
Features of monitoring system
Sensors installed in this fencing indicate ground movement, tampering with the fencing or suspicious activities. Thermal imaging and night-vision cameras keep an eye even in the dark. These will also be helpful in dense fog and bad weather in winter.
