A new controversy has arisen in the politics of Punjab regarding the allegations of theft of donations in Shri Ram Temple located in Ayodhya. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab President and Cabinet Minister Aman Arora has demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene in the matter and ensure strict action against those found guilty. Citing 105 alleged incidents of donation theft in the temple, he said that the scope of investigation should not be limited only to lower level employees, but the role of senior officials should also be investigated.
Claim of sending letters from one lakh devotees
During the press conference in Chandigarh, Aman Arora claimed that more than one lakh Ram devotees of Punjab have written a letter to the Prime Minister appealing to ensure justice and accountability in the case. According to him, these letters have been collected from about 22 thousand polling booths in the state.
Arora said that through these letters the devotees want that there should be a fair investigation into the alleged irregularities related to temple donations and whoever is found guilty should be punished as per the law. He said that these letters will be delivered to the Prime Minister.
Questions raised on 105 incidents of donation theft
In his statement, Aman Arora mentioned 105 alleged incidents of donation theft. He said that as per the report, these incidents have been mentioned in the context of CCTV footage and investigation by the Special Investigation Team (SIT).
He raised the question that if there were repeated incidents of theft in the temple premises, then why the surveillance system and administrative accountability should not be investigated. According to him, a thorough investigation of the case should make it clear under what circumstances the incidents took place and what was the role of the responsible people concerned.
However, the response of the relevant authorities to these allegations and the final findings of the investigation require independent confirmation. The decision to hold a person guilty should be based only on investigation and legal process.
Demand for investigation into the role of senior officers
AAP Punjab President said that Shri Ram Temple is a religious place associated with the faith of crores of people. Devotees have contributed their hard-earned money for the construction of the temple. In such a situation, news of alleged misuse of donations may hurt their religious sentiments.
He stressed that while fixing accountability, it would not be enough to take action only against small employees. The role of senior officials involved in the management and monitoring of the temple should also be investigated. Arora appealed to the Prime Minister and the Central Government to ensure that no responsible person gets relief in the investigation because of his position or influence.
'Call of Ram devotees, this time donation thieves should be punished'
Aman Arora said that people had contributed financially for the construction of the temple with devotion and faith. Therefore, it is important to ensure transparency and accountability in this matter. He also raised questions on using religious faith for political gains.
He said that the demand of the devotees is clear that the matter should be investigated impartially, the people responsible should be identified and if proven guilty, strict punishment should be given.
While giving the message of his campaign, Arora said, 'Call of Ram devotees, this time donation thieves will be punished.' According to him, this demand is not limited to any political debate, but is related to the protection of the faith of the devotees and their contribution.
