Jasprit Bumrah: Former head coach of the Indian cricket team, Ravi Shastri has given a big statement regarding the workload management of fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. Ravi Shastri believes that Bumrah is an invaluable asset for the Indian team, so to prolong his career and protect him from injuries, he should avoid playing in all three formats continuously. In a recent interview, Ravi Shastri said that keeping in mind the ODI World Cup to be held in the year 2027, Team India will have to use Bumrah very wisely. He advised that Bumrah should be fielded only in important matches.
Give first priority to test cricket
Ravi Shastri clearly said that Jasprit Bumrah should keep his main focus on Test cricket. In ODI and T20 International matches, he should be played only when the team needs him badly. According to Shastri, it is not possible for Bumrah to play every match because his bowling action is quite unique which puts a lot of pressure on his body, especially his back. If he plays all the matches continuously, his risk of injury will increase significantly.
Save for test matches in New Zealand
Ravi Shastri also shared his strategy regarding India's tour of New Zealand starting from October 22. India has to play five T20, five ODI and two Test matches on this tour. Shastri said, “Instead of tiring Bumrah in the T20 and ODI series, I would like to keep Bumrah completely fresh for the two Test matches against New Zealand, because it is most important for Bumrah to be fit to win the Test series there.

Important steps for preparation of World Cup 2027
The former head coach says that the 2027 ODI World Cup is to be played in South Africa, where the conditions are favorable for fast bowlers. If India has to win that World Cup, then it is necessary for Bumrah to be completely fit. Therefore, the team management and selectors should start giving rest to Bumrah in limited overs cricket from now on.
Jasprit Bumrah has been rested for the ODI and T20 series against New Zealand. This decision of the selectors and team management has clearly been taken keeping in mind the workload management of Bumrah and the preparations for the ODI World Cup to be held in the year 2027. Since Bumrah's fitness is of utmost importance for the Indian team, it was decided to give rest to his body by keeping him away from this limited overs series. Cricket experts are also appreciating this step of BCCI, because instead of tiring a big bowler like Bumrah on the New Zealand tour, keeping him fresh for future important Test series is a big and wise step in the interest of the Indian team.
