Nepal bans Priyagold biscuits: Nepal has taken a big step regarding Priyagold biscuits made in India. The government has completely banned the import, sale and distribution of 'Priyagold' biscuits manufactured by India's Surya Food and Agro Limited. This action has been taken after the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) suspended the company's license and initiated legal action.

After getting information about the action of Indian Food Safety Authority, Nepal's Food Department decided to ban Priyagold biscuits. This decision was taken in an emergency online meeting held on the initiative of the department's Director General Sanjeev Kumar Karna. Nepal's department considered the biscuits to be of poor quality i.e. not as per the prescribed standards. After this, along with their import, sale and distribution was also banned.
FSSAI investigation revealed that cattle feed bran, used in cattle feed, was allegedly used in making the biscuits.
This decision may have a direct impact on those businesspeople who import or sell these biscuits in Nepal.
