Farmers Diwali Bonus 2026: To provide financial relief to the farmers before Diwali, the Maharashtra government has announced an assistance of Rs 5,000 to the drought-affected farmers. According to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, efforts will be made to send this amount directly to the bank accounts of the farmers. However, this assistance is not an installment of the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, but is a separate initiative of the state government.
More than 85% talukas of Maharashtra affected by drought
According to the report, 305 out of 358 taluks of Maharashtra have been included in drought affected areas. The government has also added 40 additional areas to this list. In such a situation, to provide relief to the affected farmers, a plan has been made to give Rs 5,000 before Diwali.
Which farmers will get ₹5,000?
This assistance has been announced for drought affected farmers. For this, a list of beneficiaries has been prepared, in which information has come to light that 3.5 lakh additional farmers have also been included. However, the detailed eligibility conditions of all beneficiaries are not clear. Therefore, it cannot be confirmed that all the farmers of Maharashtra will get the benefit of this amount.
Farmers will also get other reliefs
The Maharashtra government has also informed about steps like increasing relief related to exemption in education fees of children of farmers in the affected areas, banning harassment of farmers during loan recovery and providing relief related to agricultural electricity.
The assistance is different from the 24th installment of PM Kisan.
Farmers should note that this help of Rs 5,000 is not the 24th installment of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. This is a separate assistance announced by the Maharashtra government for drought-affected farmers. We will have to wait for a separate official announcement regarding when the next installment of PM Kisan will come.
