pollution level of lahore
Lahore's AQI: Earlier, the mood of a city was judged by its air quality. But the recent AQI report has disappointed the residents of Lahore.
“The mood of the weather is also a bit changeable,
As if there is a stench in the air of this city.”
Lahore of Pakistan has now come to the first place in the list of most polluted cities in the world. The Air Quality Index (AQI) here reached 344 on Friday.
In view of this situation, doctors have advised people to wear masks to avoid dangerous air pollution. Swiss website IGAir has placed Lahore on top in its live ranking. According to the data around 8 am on Friday, Lahore's AQI was in the dangerous category.
According to IGAir data, the amount of particulate matter PM 2.5 in Lahore's air is 57 times more than the World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines. PM 2.5 is considered carcinogenic and these fine particles can enter the bloodstream, increasing the risk of stroke, heart disease, lung cancer and other serious health problems.
According to the government of Punjab province, Lahore and its surrounding areas suffer from smog every year between October and February. Increasing levels of air pollution in recent years have become a serious concern for public health and the environment in the province.
India's capital Delhi is at second place in the list of the world's most polluted cities, where AQI was recorded at 244 on Friday morning, which was considered very harmful for health. However, it came down to 183 in the afternoon.
At third place is Dakar in Senegal, where AQI was recorded at 184. But by afternoon, Kolkata reached the third position and recorded AQI 173.
