A big update has come out on the player auction for the 2027 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The bidding for players for IPL 2027 will be held on December 16 in Goa. On the same day, the second ODI match between India and Sri Lanka is to be played in Bengaluru. According to the report, IPL has told all the franchises that the retention list has to be released by November 15. That means all 10 teams will decide by this day who to keep and who to release.
According to the Cricinfo report, after the retention deadline is over, IPL will send the registered pool of players to all the franchises. From this pool, franchises will shortlist the players they wish to bid on. The order of the set of players will also be revealed before the auction. This means that teams will know in advance when the set of batsmen, all-rounders, wicketkeepers, spinners and pacers will arrive.
