Robert Downey Jr. kicked off the video with “Namaste, India,” before Chris Evans explained that Diwali symbolizes the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. Downey agreed with the sentiment but added a twist, hinting that their next chapter might head “in the other direction” rather than toward the light. The video then took a darker turn with a voiceover delivering Doctor Doom’s line: “I am Doom.”

Evans wrapped up the video with a Diwali greeting and assured fans that they would see the duo in Avengers: Doomsday. Downey responded, “You bet.” The announcement also highlights the film’s earlier international theatrical release on December 17, 2026, a day ahead of its previously listed December 18 release date.

The release date update sent fans into a frenzy, with comments like “We’ll be seated..” and “we are seated !!!” reflecting their excitement. Another fan echoed the franchise’s iconic spirit, writing, “We will assemble.”

One fan wrote, “Well RDJ calling me a day early. I’ll be seated on 17th first day first show!!” Others asked for a date change asking “Please release on 24th December.” A different fan wrote “Thank you for 17th because I have exam on 18 December.”

Downey Jr. will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Victor Von Doom, better known as Doctor Doom. The confirmed ensemble also features Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Pedro Pascal, Florence Pugh, Paul Rudd, Sebastian Stan, Simu Liu, Vanessa Kirby, and Tom Hiddleston. Several familiar X-Men stars are joining the cast as well, including Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn, and Alan Cumming.

Meanwhile, directors Joe and Anthony Russo are taking strict measures to keep the film’s details under wraps. Production has moved into soundstages to prevent unauthorized photos from leaking online. Joe Russo explained the approach to Collidersaying, “We don’t want people getting photographs, so we are being pretty stringent.”
