BJP's taunt on Congress' mega rally, Sudhanshu Trivedi said – poverty reduction figures are important amid opposition's allegations

Before the Congress mega rally to be held on November 1 at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi, BJP cornered Congress on the issue of business class. MP Sudhanshu Trivedi targeted the opposition in the press conference by citing the World Bank report on poverty alleviation.

Tezzbuzz Desk – BJP has intensified its attack on the mega rally to be held under the leadership of Congress on November 1 at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi. BJP, through its social media posts, described Congress as anti-businessmen. The party shared a satirical graphic addressed to shopkeepers that read, “Shopkeeper ji, loss aapka, rally hamari.” In this post, it took a jibe at the loss suffered by traders due to the market being closed on November 1 and shops being closed on the Sunday before Diwali.

While posting on X, BJP called Congress anti-businessman. The shared graphic was presented like a letter written by Congress to the business class. In this it was said sarcastically that the shop will remain closed on Sunday before Diwali, the loss will be of the shopkeeper and the rally will be of Congress.

Sudhanshu Trivedi raised questions on Congress's mega rally

BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi, while targeting the Congress in the press conference, said, “After failing in its plans to create anarchy in India, the Congress party has organized a farce, that is, a mock parliament, to console its troubled heart prince. But a strong reality has come in front of the country from the World Bank.”

Citing the World Bank's 2025 report, Trivedi said that India has achieved remarkable success in the field of poverty alleviation from 2011 to 2023. According to him, at one time more than 27 percent of India's population was living in extreme poverty, whereas now this figure has come down to 2.6 percent.

What did the BJP MP say citing the World Bank report?

Sudhanshu Trivedi said that according to the report, about 13-14 years ago, 57 percent of India's population had a daily income of less than $4.2. He claimed that now this figure has come down to 16 percent and 84 percent of the people have a daily income of more than about Rs 400 in Indian currency.

He said that the BJP and NDA government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to raising the standard of living of every person in the country and a major achievement has been achieved in the field of poverty alleviation. Trivedi claimed that the World Bank report has also accepted this.

Trivedi said that the World Bank data has raised questions on the Congress's proposed mock parliament. He alleged that on one hand the BJP and NDA governments are trying to eradicate poverty, while on the other hand the Congress under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi is engaged in spreading anarchy after failing to remove Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Congress's mega rally is to be held on November 1 at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi. The political conflict has further intensified through these statements of BJP before the rally.
