Honda is going to bring its first mass-market electric SUV in the country, global unveiling will take place on this day.

Automobile Desk: Japanese automobile giant Honda has unveiled the official name of its much-awaited and first all-electric SUV for the Indian market. This new midsize electric vehicle of the company has been named 'Honda ALPHA'.

According to experts from the automakers, this upcoming EV is being developed based on the '0 Alpha' concept model made public in October 2025. The most exciting aspect is that the global debut of this new car will be held on December 2, directly on Indian soil, before the global forums, which means Indian customers will get the first glimpse of this cutting-edge technology before the rest of the world.

Honda has made complete preparations for the manufacturing and nationwide supply of this vehicle. Commercial production of Honda Alpha will be done at the state-of-the-art plant in Tupukara, Rajasthan. The models manufactured in this plant will not only meet the domestic demand but will also be exported to select international markets. Through this ambitious product, Honda is going to launch its first mass-market electric car in the Indian passenger vehicle segment, which can prove to be a milestone for the brand. With this big launch, the company is also going to introduce its brand new 'H' logo for the first time in India, which will become the identity of its future electric portfolio.

Talking about the exterior and visual appearance of the vehicle, the design of Honda Alpha seems to be largely inspired by its initial concept model. From the prototype and official outline revealed during recent testing, it is clear that the company has given it a different and futuristic touch compared to the traditional SUV. Its silhouette and body shape are slightly quasi-MPV styled, which will give it a distinct road presence and distinctive identity while on the road. A wide windscreen and muscular rear bumper can be seen in its rear profile, while the illuminated Honda logo in the front fascia and the position of the dedicated charging port give it a completely modern and premium appeal. However, the final production variant may see some minor changes as per the market needs.

The company has not yet officially disclosed the technical data in terms of performance, battery capacity and driving range, but according to the discussions going on in the corridors of the automobile industry, it can be given the option of two different battery packs, whose capacity can be between 65kWh to 75kWh. Advanced LFP cells are likely to be used in these batteries. In the initial phase, this electric SUV can be launched in the market with front-wheel-drive and single-motor setup. Experts believe that the wheelbase of this vehicle will be kept in the range of around 2700 to 2800 mm, due to which the passengers will get excellent legroom and excellent cabin space inside the cabin, along with adequate boot space to keep the luggage.

This car is also going to be quite advanced in terms of facilities available inside the interior and cabin. A large touchscreen infotainment system and a compact digital instrument cluster can be provided on the dashboard of Honda Alpha for the convenience of the driver. A three-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel will be found inside the car, which is also expected to be provided with paddle shifters to manage regenerative braking and driving modes. Apart from this, ventilated seats will also be provided for long and comfortable journeys and dedicated physical control buttons to control the cabin temperature, so that the driver's attention is not distracted while driving.
