Kannauj: A heart-wrenching incident has come to light from Kannauj district of Uttar Pradesh. In village Jagatpur of Chhibramau Kotwali area, the husband allegedly sprinkled petrol on his wife and set her on fire. A 30-year-old woman died on the spot after being caught in the fire. It is being told that the accused husband used to doubt his wife’s character. After the incident, the accused himself reached the police post with both the children and surrendered. The police have arrested the accused and started investigating the case.
Wife burnt alive after dispute
According to the information, Sukhveer Singh alias Monu, resident of village Jagatpur, had a dispute with his wife Sonam Rathore over some issue at around 7:15 am on Thursday. As the dispute escalated, the accused allegedly poured petrol on the wife and set her on fire. It is being told that he had tied his wife to a chair.
As soon as the fire broke out, there was chaos on the spot. The villagers ran to save the woman and informed the fire brigade. However, by the time the fire was brought under control, Sonam had burnt to death. The entire house also got caught in the fire.
The accused reached the police post with both the children.
After committing the crime, accused Sukhveer himself reached the police post along with his two children and surrendered before the police. The couple has a son and a daughter. There was sensation in the village after the incident. The police have arrested the accused and further legal action is being taken in the case.
There used to be disputes over doubts about wife’s character.
According to the villagers, Sukhveer had brought Sonam with him to the village from Gurgaon about 12 years ago. He had told the villagers that both of them had got married. Later he told that Sonam was earlier married in Bhind and she separated from there and came with him.
The villagers allege that Sukhveer used to doubt his wife’s character. There were often disputes and fights between the two regarding this matter. There was an altercation between the two on the same issue on Wednesday night also. After this, this incident came to light on Thursday morning.
Love marriage took place in 2015
It is being told that Sukhveer and Sonam had a love marriage in the year 2015. The accused used to work as a laborer in Haryana and had recently returned home. At present the police is investigating the entire matter.
