New Delhi. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has recorded the air quality index (AQI) around India Gate at 399 this morning. This is in the ‘very poor’ category. The festival of Diwali is round the corner. People have started bursting crackers as the evening approaches. This is after the Supreme Court has issued guidelines regarding firecrackers. The government and officials are blindsided.
Even before Diwali, the air quality in the national capital Delhi has reached ‘very poor’ category. According to CPCB data released this morning, the air quality index in the area around India Gate was recorded at 399 in the morning. This level of air quality index falls in the category of ‘very poor’. This situation reflects the increasing pollution in the environment of Delhi.
According to Central Pollution Control Board data, the air in many areas of the capital has been recorded in ‘very poor’ and ‘severe’ category. This situation is worrying. According to the data, the air quality in the area around Delhi AIIMS has been recorded in the ‘severe’ category. The AQI on Naoroji Nagar Ring Road reached 416, which falls in the ‘severe’ category. The air quality index in Anand Vihar was found to be 296 and the air in the area is classified in the ‘poor’ category. These figures highlight the prevalence of pollution in different parts of Delhi. 293 AQI was recorded around Akshardham temple.
According to CPCB, Noida was the second most polluted city in NCR on Wednesday. According to board officials, construction work will remain closed from Thursday to November 20 to control pollution. Even after implementation of Grape-2, rules are being violated at many places in the city. Resources for pollution prevention also appear to be limited. Not only this, construction work is being carried out openly without following the rules. 309 AQI was recorded in Greater Noida.
Kishan Singh, Assistant Engineer, Regional Office of Noida Pollution Control Board, said that the construction work will be completely closed from November 5 to 20. In such a situation, there is a possibility of relief from pollution for the next few days. Strict action will be taken against those who do not follow the rules. Along with issuing a notice to them, a fine will also be imposed.
