Mumbai.Diwali is not just a festival of lights, sweets and happiness, but it also symbolizes many interesting stories related to Indian culture, traditions and religious beliefs. With the aim of conveying the importance of these stories and festivals to the new generation, Shemaroo TV is bringing a special series this Diwali ‘Shemaroo Deepotsav – Story of every festival’.

In this series of four special episodes, viewers will get an opportunity to know about the mythological stories and traditions related to Dhanteras, Diwali, Govardhan Puja and Bhai Dooj. In the series, actress Ragini Chaubey will present the stories behind these festivals in an interesting manner. Ragini Chaubey is known for playing the role of Goddess Lakshmi in the popular mythological serial ‘Devon Ke Dev Mahadev’.

Through the series, it will be told why Lord Dhanvantari is worshiped on Dhanteras and what is the importance of Yama Deepdan. At the same time, the beliefs related to Lord Shri Ram’s return to Ayodhya and worship of Lakshmi-Ganesh will also be shown on Diwali. Through the story of Govardhan Puja, the message of Lord Krishna will be brought forward in which ego has no place in front of faith. Apart from this, the mythological story related to Yamraj and his sister Yamuna will also be narrated on Bhai Dooj.

The aim of this initiative is not only to present religious stories related to festivals, but also to reconnect families with their cultural roots and traditions. In today’s era, when the tradition of sitting together and listening to stories is gradually decreasing, this series will give an opportunity to children and adults to sit together and understand Indian culture and traditions.

What did Ragini Chaubey say?

Regarding the series, actress Ragini Chaubey said that since playing the character of Goddess Lakshmi, I have had a special connection with these stories. Through ‘Shemaru Deepotsav’, it is my endeavor that family members once again enjoy the old tradition of sitting together and listening to and telling stories. This will raise questions in the minds of children and parents and grandparents will also get an opportunity to narrate those stories which they have not told to anyone for many years. By knowing these stories we remain connected to our traditions and values. It also teaches us the importance of love, faith, gratitude towards others and family. We can give not only our traditions to the coming generation, but also good lessons and feelings related to them.”
