São Paulo: Seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton is set to achieve a monumental career milestone at the upcoming São Paulo Grand Prix, becoming only the second driver in Formula One history to reach 400 Grand Prix entries. The 41-year-old Briton, currently in his second season with Scuderia Ferrari, reaches the quadruple-century mark at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace—the very circuit where he secured his maiden World Championship in dramatic fashion back in 2008.

Hamilton boasts an unprecedented starting record, having started every single one of the 399 Grands Prix for which he has officially entered since his 2007 debut. The upcoming milestone leaves him trailing only former McLaren teammate Fernando Alonso on the all-time longevity list.

Poignant Return to an Honorary Home Track

Reaching the 400-race milestone in Brazil carries deep personal and historical significance for Hamilton. Granted honorary Brazilian citizenship in 2022, the Briton has enjoyed an enduring affinity with local fans, inspired by his childhood idol, the late three-time champion Ayrton Senna.

Interlagos has served as the backdrop for some of Hamilton’s most iconic career highlights. Across 18 previous appearances at the track, he has secured seven podiums and three victories, notably winning from tenth on the grid in 2021. Speaking to media outlets ahead of the race weekend, Hamilton reflected on the milestone: “I remember there was a point when I was embarking on 300, and everyone was like, ‘Once you get to 300, you can never win.’ And I won in my 300th. So, I guess my goal will be to work on winning in my 400th”.

Target Set Following Resurgent Pace in Mexico

Hamilton arrives in São Paulo sitting third in the 2026 Drivers’ Championship standings, supported by strong performances across recent rounds. His current campaign with Ferrari includes a landmark victory at the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix alongside his 105th career pole position earned recently in Mexico City.
