New Delhi, 6 November 2026: On the holy occasion of Dhanteras, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended hearty wishes to the entire countrymen. PM Modi has worshiped Lord Dhanvantari, the God of health, and prayed for happiness, peace and good health in everyone's life. On this holy occasion, the Prime Minister had also shared a Sanskrit verse praising Lord Dhanvantari on the social media platform.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had written in his greeting message that, “Infinite best wishes for Dhanteras to the entire countrymen. May everyone's life always be illuminated with happiness, peace and good health by the divine grace of Lord Dhanvantari. May the eternal lamp of enthusiasm and joy keep burning in every family, this is my prayer at the feet of God.”
PM Modi shared the holy verse of Lord Dhanvantari
On the auspicious day of Dhanteras, the Prime Minister had remembered the glory of Lord Dhanvantari by sharing a Sanskrit verse dedicated to him:
“नमामि धन्वंतरिमादिदेवं सुरासुराइर्वंदितपादपद्ममम्.
Loke Jararugbhayamrityunasham Dataramisham Vividhaushadhinam.
Meaning of the verse: I respectfully bow to Lord Dhanvantari, the Supreme Lord, whose lotus feet are worshiped by both gods and demons. He is the God and destroyer of the sufferings of old age, disease, fear and death in this world and the giver of various medicines.
Special significance of worshiping Lord Dhanvantarini on Dhanteras.
In Sanatan tradition, Dhanteras is also known as 'Dhanatrayodashi'. On this day, worshiping Lord Dhanvantarini, the god of wealth as well as health, has special religious significance. According to mythological beliefs, during the churning of the ocean, Lord Dhanvantari appeared with a pot of nectar in his hand. That is why on the day of Dhanteras, special worship of Lord Dhanvantari is done for wealth, prosperity, healthy body and longevity.
Importance of chanting mantra for health and longevity
Doctors and devotees of Ayurveda recite this verse on the day of Dhanteras and Dhanvantari Jayanti with the wish of good health and disease-free life. With this message of PM Modi, along with religious and spiritual importance, the message of 'Health is the biggest asset of life' has also spread in the society.
