Drug test was done after the final match of T20 Blast
36-year-old right-handed opening batsman Chris Lynn was taking part in England’s prestigious domestic T20 tournament ‘T20 Blast’, during which his test was conducted. According to the information received, his dope test was taken after the final match played on July 18. The lab test report confirmed the presence of cocaine in his urine sample. After this, when the notice was issued by the cricket regulator, Chris Lynn accepted his mistake.
Didn’t consume it to enhance performance, hence got relief
Chris Lynn, playing for Northamptonshire, clarified in front of the investigation team that he had consumed cocaine about a week before the final match. He also stressed that his intention was not at all to enhance performance in sports. The cricket regulator’s expert team agreed with his argument and the circumstances. For this reason, instead of a longer ban, he was given a ban of only 1 month, which came into effect from 31st July and ended on 30th August.
