Delhi: Cricket fans will see many interesting changes in the fifth season of International League T20 (ILT20). The tournament organizers have decided to implement new rules to make the game faster and the umpires' decisions more clear. The most important change has been made in the rules of wide ball. Now a special 'batter zone' will be decided for the batsman, on the basis of which the decision on wide will be taken.
Apart from this, the stop clock rule of 60 seconds will now apply not only to the bowling team but also to the batting team. The new rules will come into effect from the first match of the tournament starting from November 21.

New batter zone will be created for wide ball
Under the new rule, a designated zone will be created in front of the batsman. If the ball completely goes out of this zone and the batsman is unable to touch it, then the umpire can declare it wide. If the batsman is standing, a ball passing above his head will also be considered wide.
The special thing is that even if the batsman changes his place on the crease to play the ball, this rule will still be applicable. However, during reverse sweeps and switch hits, the already applied wide line of off side will be used.
Stop clock will also be applicable on the batting team
Till now the stop clock rule of 60 seconds was only for the bowling team. After the new rule, the batting team will also have to be ready to play the next over within 60 seconds of the end of the previous over.
Teams will be warned twice in every innings. If the rule is broken for the third time, the bowling team will get 5 penalty runs. However, this rule will not apply in circumstances like treatment of injury, strategic break, bad weather and review by the third umpire.
These players will have to be given a chance in the playing eleven
ILT20 has also changed the rules to give more opportunities to domestic players. Now it will be necessary for every team to have at least two players from UAE, two Afghanistan and one ICC Associate country in its playing-11. This combination will have to be maintained even during player changes and super subs. There will be separate provisions for concussion replacement.
