The state agitators may get a big gift from the Dhami government tomorrow on the foundation day. There is a preparation to form a sub-committee of two ministers to remove the legal hurdles in appointments. At the same time, brainstorming is going on at the government level to resolve some other issues including the issue of double pension and marking.
The state agitators were earlier given appointments in various departments by giving them the benefit of 10 percent horizontal reservation in government jobs, but the process of appointments got affected after the stay order of the court in the case related to the year 2013-14. Now the government can take steps towards resolving this legal and administrative hurdle. For this, there are preparations to constitute a sub-committee of two ministers.
Another important issue related to the state agitators is that of double pension. Women especially played an important role in the state movement, but due to other pensions, women and ex-servicemen are not getting the pension of state agitators. The government can also consider removing the ban on this. This is expected to provide relief to those agitators who are eligible to avail the benefits of State Agitator Pension along with other pensions.
Since this matter has been pending for a long time, demands for its solution have been raised by the agitating organizations. At the same time, the issue of labeling of state agitators is also included in the agenda of the government. For this the standard can be relaxed.
Under the proposal, movement related news published in newspapers and available documents can also be made the basis of marking. In such a situation, the way may open for declaring people whose names are published as agitators in newspapers as state agitators. Along with the name in newspapers, the recommendation of the 10-member committee formed under the chairmanship of the District Magistrate can also be made an important basis in the process of marking.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met to settle the remaining issues of the state agitators. On which positive assurance has been received from CM. You may get some gifts from the government on State Foundation Day. -Subhash Barthwal, Vice President, State Movement Honor Council
