The fire incident in Prayagraj on Saturday created chaos in the area. A sudden fire broke out in two clothes and photostat shops located near Allapur Labor Square in Georgetown police station area. Within no time the fire engulfed the goods kept in both the shops. Seeing the smoke and flames rising from the shops, there was panic among the people nearby. Information about the incident was immediately given to the fire department. As soon as the information was received, the fire brigade team reached the spot and started the work of extinguishing the fire.
According to preliminary information, the cause of the fire is believed to be electrical short circuit. However, the actual cause of the fire can be confirmed only after investigation. Due to the fire, the goods kept in the clothes shop and photostat shop got burnt and spoiled. An attempt was made to save the goods present in the shops, but due to the spread of the fire there was loss.
The incident took place on Saturday 7 November near Allapur Labor Crossing. This area comes under Georgetown police station area. As soon as information about fire in shops was received, local people also gathered on the spot. The flames and smoke caused concern among nearby shopkeepers and passersby. People feared that the fire might reach other nearby shops as well.
Fire personnel reached the spot and tried to control the fire. After much effort the fire was extinguished. After the fire was extinguished, information about damage to goods kept in the shops came to light. According to the information available at present, no casualties have been confirmed. The estimate of the total economic loss caused by the fire is also not clear.
Initially short circuit is believed to be the cause of the fire. Such apprehensions have been raised due to the presence of electrical equipment and wiring in the shops. However, the real reason will be known only after investigation. The loss caused to the shopkeepers after the incident is being assessed.
