A devotee was targeted while circling, the bike rider pounced on him and took away the gold chain.

Vrindavan: An incident of snatching has come to light amidst a huge crowd of devotees during the Radhashtami festival in the religious city. On the Panighat to Shyamkuti road, a bike-riding miscreant pounced from behind and snatched the gold chain of a devotee who was circumambulating. After the incident, the accused fled towards Panigaon Road. The victim has filed a complaint with the Kotwali police demanding action.

The miscreant came from behind during parikrama

Meerut resident Abhishek Chaudhary, son of Jitendra, was circumambulating Vrindavan with his wife and brothers on Saturday morning. It was told that at around seven in the morning he was moving from Panighat towards Shyamkuti road. Meanwhile, the young man who came from behind on an Apache bike suddenly pounced and broke the gold chain from Abhishek's neck. Before Abhishek and the family members present with him could understand anything about the sudden incident, the bike rider ran away towards Panigaon Road.

Suspect's actions captured in CCTV

After the incident, the victim immediately informed the police. The police started scanning the footage of CCTV cameras installed in and around Parikrama Marg. In the footage, a suspicious youth is seen chasing Abhishek. Police are now trying to identify the accused and search for his bike on the basis of the footage.

Kotwali in-charge Ashwini Kumar said that information has been received about chain snatching of a devotee. The case is being investigated. The search for the accused has been started on the basis of CCTV footage.
