Read, Digital Desk : Lockdown had father betting Rs 65,000, son now captain of India U-19 team; you will get emotional. A few days back, the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) announced the Indian Under-19 team for the tour of Sri Lanka, with Yashvardhan Singh Chauhan being appointed as the team captain. Yashvardhan, who comes from Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh, will be captain of the Indian U-19 team in the ODI and multiday format in Sri Lanka.

Lakshya Raichandani has been made the vice-captain of the team.

Speaking of Yashvardhan, his journey to this position is quite inspiring. Yashvardhan Singh Chauhan’s success story includes his parents’ struggle, sacrifices and the gamble played by his father. According to Yashwardhan, the bet was a risk of a lifetime. After the corona outbreak in 2020, the family’s business was put on halt due to which the entire family faced economic crisis.

At that time, his son Yashvardhan had demanded an expensive bat.

Father took a loan and got the bat Although he could not fulfill his son’s demand of buying expensive things in those financial tough days, Yashvardhan’s father still took a loan from the bank and bought him an English Willow bat of the KL Rahul series for Rs 65,000. “This was the biggest bet of my life on the dream of my son,” he was quoted as saying by an English daily. And the father’s guess turned out right.

Yashwardhan Singh Chauhan scored 1,300 runs on the same expensive bat in the 2021 Kanamdikar Trophy (U-13) which attracted the eyes of the sport’s prominent names and selection committee. Yashwardhan will turn 18 in the coming November. Yashvardhan remained composed and confident even in the domestic matches and his leadership skills were recognized at a very early stage which later earned him a spot in the U-19 team.
