A hill collapsed like a deck of cards in Himachal! Workers working on Shongtong project saved their lives by running away
A very scary and heart-wrenching news has come out this morning from Kinnaur, a tribal district of Himachal Pradesh. A massive landslide suddenly occurred at the barrage site of Shongtong Power Project located in Powari, Kinnaur. When the hill cracked, dozens of laborers working there showed wisdom and immediately ran away from the spot to save their lives.
This sudden incident caused chaos and screams throughout the site. A live video of this dreadful landslide has also surfaced, which will give goosebumps to anyone. It is clearly visible in the video how a huge amount of debris falls down from the hill in a moment and big trees break like straw and get razed to the ground. Within no time, such a cloud of dust covered the entire area that it became difficult to see anything. The good thing was that the workers escaped in time, due to which a major accident was averted and no one died.
The hill suddenly collapsed, causing huge damage to the under construction barrage.
According to the information received, construction work was going on as usual at the barrage site of Shongtong Hydro Power Project. Then suddenly around 10:30 am on Friday morning, a large part of the high hill of Powari collapsed and fell down. Due to this landslide, the structure of the barrage being built there has also suffered a lot of damage. The speed of the debris was so fast that the machinery and construction material standing below did not even get a chance to recover.
Big danger looms over petrol pump and residential house, administration alert
After this terrible landslide, now a big danger has arisen for a petrol pump located right near the Shongtong project site and a residential house built nearby. The lower part of the hill has become weak due to landslides. Experts say that if a large-scale landslide occurs again in this area, this petrol pump and houses can be completely reduced to debris. In view of this serious threat, teams of local administration and concerned departments are present on the spot and are constantly keeping a close watch on the entire situation.
Nature’s orgy started in Himachal even before the arrival of monsoon.
Monsoon has not yet fully arrived in Himachal Pradesh, but even before that, these scary incidents of pre-monsoon rains and landslides have filled people with fear. Just a day before this incident in Shongtong, on Thursday evening, a similar form of nature was seen in the capital Shimla.
Suddenly a hill cracked on the Sanjauli-Dhali bypass of Shimla, after which huge rocks, huge trees and tons of debris fell directly on the main road. Due to this landslide, long queues of vehicles formed on both sides of the highway and traffic came to a complete standstill for about two hours. These news coming before the monsoon have greatly increased the concern of the people and tourists living in hilly areas.
