A massive fire broke out in a bungalow in Surendranagar, Gujarat, husband and wife burnt to death.
A tragic accident occurred on Friday night in Limbdi town of Surendranagar district of Gujarat, when two people lost their lives while two others got minor injuries in a sudden fire in a residential bungalow. According to the police, this incident took place late at night in a house located in Vora Society of the city, which created a stir in the entire area.

Limbdi Division Deputy SP Vishal Rabari said that at the time of the accident, Shabbir Lokhandwala and his wife Rashida Lokhandwala, who lived in the house, were sleeping in their bedroom. The fire spread so fast that both of them did not get a chance to recover or get out. By the time people nearby got information about the incident and relief work started, the situation had become serious. Both were immediately rushed to the hospital, but the doctors declared them dead.
In this incident, two other members of the house also suffered minor injuries due to fire and smoke. He was discharged from the hospital after first aid. Police and fire department teams reached the spot and brought the fire under control, but by then a lot of damage had been done.
Different things are emerging regarding the cause of the fire. The initial estimate of the police is that this accident might have happened due to some technical fault in the air conditioner. However, the investigation of the matter is still going on and the technical team is examining this aspect in depth.
Claim of relatives of the deceased
At the same time, the relatives of the deceased have made a different claim. He says that the couple’s mobile phone was on charging at the time of the incident and the fire probably started due to battery explosion. According to family members, first the sofa caught fire, after which the smoke quickly spread in the room and within no time the entire room was engulfed in flames.
At present the police is investigating keeping both the possibilities in mind. This tragic accident has once again raised serious questions regarding home security and safe use of electronic devices.
