A pothole appeared on the road and the contractor got stuck! Engineer from Bengaluru created such an AI app which will extract the raw blog in 4 seconds

AI Pothole Detector & Road Damage: Do you also get worried every time you avoid potholes on the road? Technology has now taken a new step towards road safety and government accountability. Bengaluru-based software engineer Gaurav Sen has come up with a brilliant technical solution to this common citizen problem.

Fed up with the bad roads, he has created a unique AI app using dashcam, GPS and computer vision technology. This system not only identifies the potholes, but also locates the contractor and the responsible officer who is responsible for repairing that road in the blink of an eye. This technique serves to put negligent contractors directly in the dock.

According to media reports, this AI-powered system has been designed to make road travel safe and ensure complete government accountability.

How does AI system work?

  • Live Data Recording: Road data is recorded during driving with the help of dashcam, GPS and accelerometer installed in the vehicle.
  • Advanced Vision Model: Its vision model with the help of AI accurately identifies potholes based on their size (small, medium or large).
  • Use of Codex and OpenAI: Codex has been used to create this system, which captures the necessary data and sends it to OpenAI.
  • This system can easily identify even such potholes which are difficult to identify from a distance – because from a distance their correct shape is not visible and they sometimes look like speed breakers.

Responsible contractors will be identified

The most special part of this app is that it scans the database of about 2,900 government contracts (Tenders). It immediately finds out which contractor has the tender to build that road and which government official is responsible for it. This system generates a complete complaint report with photo of the pothole, exact location and tender number in just 4 seconds.

Was successful in testing (AI Pothole Detector)

Let us tell you that when Gaurav Sen tested this system while going to his office, his app caught 12 potholes on the way and in the blink of an eye prepared 12 complaints to send to the Municipal Corporation. Since most of the roads in India are built under warranty period and the builder is legally responsible for maintaining them, this app can directly help in preventing corruption and negligence. On social media, people are praising this amazing desi jugaad and innovation.
