New Delhi, 20 September 2026: Aadhaar-linked biometric authentication will be mandatory to book subsidized LPG cylinders from October 1st.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas had said that its objective is to ensure that subsidized LPG cylinders reach only eligible families.
The Ministry has clarified that the objective of this process is not to deprive any eligible family of LPG. Customers who have already completed the authentication process do not need to do it again.
Biometric Aadhaar authentication can be done at the time of cylinder delivery, at the distributor's showroom or through mobile applications of oil marketing companies.
