Bhopal. The School Education Department launched a campaign to update the Aadhaar of 6 lakh students of the state. In this, biometric data of more than 6 lakh people has been updated so far under Biometric Update (MBU) in Aadhaar. This campaign, which started in July and August, is now being carried forward in mission mode from September 1.
Director State Education Center Shri Harjinder Singh said that the department is doing mandatory biometric update (MBU) in Aadhaar so that students do not face any problem in availing various government services including school admissions, entrance examinations, scholarships and direct benefit transfer. In the last two months in the state, till August 31, 2026, more than 6 lakh students have updated their Aadhaar biometrics.
MBU process is free for children aged 5 to 17 years
Photo, fingerprint and iris scan are updated during biometric update in the child’s Aadhaar. The first mandatory biometric update is required to be done on completion of 5 years of age and the second on completion of 15 years of age. The MBU process is free for children aged 5 to 17 years. Keeping in view the convenience of the students, a special initiative has been started by the Science and Technology Department, School Education Department, State Education Center of the State Government in collaboration with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to complete the pending biometric updates in the Aadhaar of the students in the new academic session.
Under this, students and parents are being made aware about the need for MBU. Now it is being run in mission mode in the state from September 1.
