As the most important proof of identity and address, Aadhaar card is required in every government and non-government work. Many times, while travelling, while opening a bank account or while doing some important work, the original physical card is left at home. In such a situation, the electronic Aadhaar i.e. 'e-Aadhaar' issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is a completely valid and valid option. The digitally downloaded e-Aadhaar has the same legal validity as the original printed card under the Information Technology Act and Aadhaar Rules. If your mobile number is registered (linked) with Aadhaar, you can download digital Aadhaar in PDF format from the official portal within just 5 minutes from your smartphone. There is no need to go to any cyber café for this. You can complete this work safely from home directly through UIDAI website or mobile app. Step-by-step process to download Aadhaar card from myAadhaar portal The fastest and safest method to download Aadhaar through any web browser (like Chrome or Safari) of smartphone is as follows: First of all, open the official portal of UIDAI myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in in your mobile browser. Scroll down on the homepage and tap on 'Download Aadhaar' option given in the Quick Services section. Now you will see three options for entering identity: Aadhaar Number (Aadhaar Number) Enrollment ID / EID (Enrolment Slip Number – 28 digits) Virtual ID / VID (16 digit Virtual ID) Choose any one option as per your convenience and enter your details in the prescribed box. Fill the Captcha Code shown on the screen correctly and click on the 'Send OTP' button. You will receive a 6 digit one-time password (OTP) on your registered mobile number. Now a checkbox will appear on the screen before entering the OTP: "Do you want a masked Aadhaar?". Tick this if you want to show only the last four digits for security reasons; If the full identification number is required, leave it unchecked (blank). Enter the 6 digit OTP received on mobile and tap on 'Verify & Download' button. Once the verification is successful, the password-protected PDF file of e-Aadhaar will be immediately downloaded to your phone. What is the password of Aadhar Card PDF? Correct way to open When you try to open that PDF file after e-Aadhaar is downloaded, for security reasons it asks for a password. This is where millions of users get confused about what to enter in the password. As per the official rules of UIDAI, the password of the e-Aadhaar file is a fixed combination of 8 characters in total: First four letters of your name (in capital letters) Your year of birth (in YYYY format) Let us understand by example: If a person's name is SURESH KUMAR and his year of birth is 1990, then his PDF password will be SURE1990. If someone's name is ANITA SHARMA and year of birth is 1985, then the password has to be entered ANIT1985. If someone's name has only three letters, like RIA SINGH and the year of birth is 2002, then the three letters of the name and the first letter of the surname together will form four letters, i.e. the password will be RIAS2002. How to remove Aadhaar card from mAadhaar app and DigiLocker? If you want to avoid the hassle of repeatedly visiting websites and entering OTPs, using government mobile apps is a very convenient and sustainable option: 1. Via mAadhaar mobile app: Download the official 'mAadhaar' app from Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Login to the app with your registered mobile number. By going to 'Download Aadhaar' option, you can choose Regular or Masked Aadhaar and save the PDF through OTP. Apart from this, after setting 'My Aadhaar Profile' in the app, the digital card can always be displayed on the screen even without downloading. 2. Through DigiLocker: Create an account on the official 'DigiLocker' app or portal of Government of India (digilocker.gov.in). Go to the 'Issued Documents' section and search for 'UIDAI' and verify your Aadhaar details. After this, DigiLocker secures your digital Aadhaar directly in the cloud. It can be viewed anytime even offline and submitted for legal verification. What to do if the registered mobile number is switched off or lost? If your mobile number is switched off, lost or not linked to Aadhaar, online OTP based e-Aadhaar cannot be downloaded. In such a situation, you have two options: The first option is 'Order Aadhaar PVC Card'. The facility to order PVC card is also available by entering 'Non-registered Mobile Number' on the UIDAI website. For this, a government fee of ₹ 50 has to be deposited online, after which the waterproof plastic PVC card is sent directly to your address through speed post. The second option is to visit your nearest authorized Aadhaar Seva Kendra or bank/post office centre. There the operator will verify your identity through biometrics (thumb impression or iris scan) and update the new mobile number or take a printout of Aadhaar on the spot.
