Meanwhile, former Indian opener Aakash Chopra has named the 4 teams which can change their captain next season.

Akash recently posted a video on his social media account ‘X’ But in a shared video he said that there are at least four teams which can be seen taking the field with a new captain in the next season. Along with this, Akash also discussed those players who can become the new captains of these teams.

Captaincy will be snatched from Hardik Pandya

According to Aakash Chopra, Mumbai Indians can change their captain in the next season. He said that under the leadership of Hardik Pandya, Mumbai has failed to reach the playoffs twice in the last three seasons. He said that even if Hardik remains in the team, MI may go with a new captain next season. Although, he did not tell who will be the new captain of MI, but experts believe that considering the future, this responsibility can be given to Tilak Verma. Tilak is only 23 years old and he can play for the team for a long time.

Rishabh Pant will also have to leave captaincy

Akash said that like Mumbai Indians, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) can also take the captaincy from Rishabh Pant and hand it over to some other player. He said that under the leadership of Pant, the team has failed to get a ticket for the playoffs for the second consecutive season. According to Akash, the pressure of captaincy is clearly visible on Pant’s batting as well.

Disappointing season for KKR

The former cricketer said that three-time champion Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) can give the responsibility of captaincy to a new player in place of Ajinkya Rahane next season. Under Rahane’s captaincy, KKR could win only 6 out of 14 matches this season and failed to make it to the playoffs.

Sanju Samson will get the command of CSK

According to Aakash Chopra, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), which was seen struggling in IPL 2026, may also think of handing over the captaincy to Sanju Samson in place of Ruturaj Gaikwad in the next season. CSK failed to get the playoff ticket this season too. The team could win only 6 out of 14 matches. Sanju Samson has captaincy experience and can prove to be a better captain.
