Aamir Khan On Sonam Wangchuk: Social activist and educationist Sonam Wangchuk’s hunger strike is now getting support from the artist community. Sonam Wangchuk has started a hunger strike at Jantar Mantar in Delhi since June 28. She wants the government to discuss her various demands. This movement is getting support from many sectors and some artists have also requested her to call off the hunger strike. Aamir Khan played the character of Sonam Wangchuk in the film 3 Idiots. But today many artists are supporting her hunger strike and demanding that she end the hunger strike. However, Aamir Khan and other artists in the film have not commented yet. This question was being raised. Finally, Aamir Khan has broken his silence on this.

Aamir Khan on Thursday closed the London Indian Film Festival (LIFF) by making a special appearance at the screening of ‘Lagaan’. The film was the main attraction of the closing ceremony of LIFF. After the screening, Aamir Khan discussed the impact and legacy of the film 25 years after its release. During this, the actor also answered questions from the audience.

During the conversation, Aamir was asked about the hunger strike of Sonam Wangchuk, who is believed to have inspired his character ‘Rancho’ in the blockbuster film ‘3 Idiots’. The discussion also brought up Sonam Wangchuk’s ongoing hunger strike and the actor was asked for his thoughts on the subject.

On getting inspiration from Sonam Wangchuk for ‘3 Idiots’, Aamir said, “No, actually that is not true. It is a misconception. When we were making ‘3 Idiots’, I did not know anything about Sonam. I recently saw a video of ‘Chatur’ in which he said that. But it is wrong. ‘Chatur’ may feel that way, but I have to tell you that both the writers of the film – Raju and Abhijat – did not know anything about Sonam.”

Aamir was then asked about the growing concerns about the health of Sonam Wangchuk, who is continuing her fast at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. Aamir said, “We are all very concerned about her health and life. We hope everything will be fine. We all hope that she will end her fast.”
