Under the 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan' launched on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday, the Delhi government is going to organize a special program in the honor of Anganwadi workers. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the role of Anganwadi workers is very important in providing government schemes and services to children, women and families. Along with honoring his contribution, the government is also considering increasing the honorarium.
'Aangan ka milan' will be held in 70 assembly constituencies
'Aangan Ka Milan' programs will be organized in all 70 assembly seats of Delhi from September 23. Apart from Anganwadi workers and assistants, beneficiaries, children, pregnant women, lactating women, parents and people of the local community will participate in these programs.
About 25 thousand invitation letters are being sent by the government for these programs. Participation of about 500 people is proposed in each assembly constituency. Nutrition oath will also be administered to the participants during the programs.
Anganwadi workers will get honor kit
According to Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, a special honor kit worth about Rs 2,500 has been prepared to honor the Anganwadi workers. This includes bag, uniform, insulated water bottle, cap, first aid pouch and umbrella. This kit will be provided to the front line workers associated with Anganwadi by the chief guests in assembly level programs.
This year's theme is 'Our Anganwadi, Our Responsibility'
These programs have also been linked to the 9th National Nutrition Month 2026. National Nutrition Month is being celebrated from 17 September to 17 October 2026 under the 'Saksham Anganwadi and Nutrition' scheme by the Women and Child Development Department.
This year the theme of National Nutrition Month has been kept as 'Our Anganwadi, Our Responsibility'. Its objective is to increase awareness about nutrition, strengthen community participation and develop a sense of responsibility among the people towards Anganwadi services.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that Anganwadi workers are an important link between the government and the common people. Along with recognizing and honoring their work, possibilities of increasing their honorarium are being considered, so that the workers providing government services at the grassroots level can get proper support.
