AAP called Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation a victory for students and youth, gave this big statement

Chandigarh: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab on Saturday welcomed the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The party described it as a historic victory for lakhs of students and youth who were continuously fighting against paper leaks, examination malpractices and anti-student policies of the BJP central government.

Earlier in the day, AAP had led statewide protests across Punjab with the slogan ‘thali bajao, dictator bhagao’ against the Centre’s anti-student policies. AAP ministers, MPs, MLAs, office-bearers and thousands of party workers took to the streets in every district to show solidarity with the students and demand accountability from the central government over the repeated paper leaks and the breakdown of the country’s recruitment and education system.

Big statement of Harpal Singh Cheema   

On Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, senior AAP leader and cabinet minister Harpal Singh Cheema said, "Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation is a great example of youth power. Prime Minister Modi should accept this as soon as possible. Ultimately, BJP surrendered to the stubbornness of the youth. Hopefully, this will lead to major reforms like restructuring the education system, solving the problem of paper leaks and big changes for the students. Long live the revolution." 

Meanwhile, AAP MP Malvinder Singh Kang termed the resignation as a historic victory for crores of students, youth and every citizen who believes in democracy and the right to raise their voice against injustice.

The AAP MP congratulated the students and youth who led the movement despite facing police action and harassment. He said, “The BJP government tried everything possible to suppress the democratic movement, but the courage and unity of the students ultimately forced the Center to back down. The protesting students were lathi-charged, many were admitted to hospital, and even attempts were made to disrupt food arrangements for the protesters. Despite all these difficulties, the students remained united and continued their peaceful struggle until the government was forced to take action.

He stressed that mere resignation would not be enough. He demanded a complete overhaul of the country’s examination and recruitment system to ensure transparency, accountability and end the problem of paper leaks, which has hurt the future and hopes of millions of youth.

Malvinder Singh Kang also warned the BJP-led central government against adopting a dictatorial attitude. He said, "If the central government continues to ignore the voices of students, farmers, employees and other sections of the society, people will once again take to the streets to defend democracy and protect their constitutional rights."   

Reiterating its promise towards students and youth, AAP said that until the country’s education system becomes transparent, fair and accountable, it will continue to raise their issues from the streets to the Parliament.
