Delhi Bicycle Scam: Aam Aadmi Party leaders rode bicycles to the Assembly demanding the resignation of Education Minister Ashish Sood over the bicycle scam in Delhi. AAP MLAs purchased bicycles for Rs 4,200, which the BJP government had purchased for Rs 6,957, and reached the Assembly. AAP’s Delhi State President Saurabh Bhardwaj led the MLAs on their bicycles to the Assembly. During the ride, the MLAs raised slogans like, “Where will you find bicycle thieves in Rekha Gupta’s government?” Saurabh Bhardwaj said that Ashish Sood’s department committed a Rs 90 crore scam in the bicycles distributed to schoolgirls. “The bicycles we purchased and the ones the government gave to the girls are both Bonfire models, but the government is giving them Skyler’s name.”
Saurabh Bhardwaj’s claim regarding the price and model of the bicycle
Saurabh Bhardwaj said that these are Hero bicycles and are exactly the same as the ones being distributed to school girls by the department of Delhi Government’s Education Minister Ashish Sood. There are only two differences between these two bicycles. The first difference is the price. We purchased them from a retailer for Rs 4200 per bicycle, whereas the Delhi Government purchased 1 lakh 30 thousand bicycles and paid Rs 6957 for each bicycle. This means that the Delhi Government purchased a bicycle for about Rs 3000 more. The second difference is the model of the bicycle. The bicycles we purchased are labeled as Bonfire Model. The bicycles being distributed by the Delhi Government are also Bonfire, only they are labeled Skylar.

Accused of taking commission of Rs 3000 on a bicycle
Saurabh Bhardwaj said, “We purchased this bicycle for ₹4,200, and the Delhi government purchased a similar bicycle for approximately ₹7,000. If a commission of ₹3,000 is being taken on a single bicycle, imagine the scale of the loot. Today, we are taking this bicycle to the Delhi Assembly. The Delhi government has also brought the bicycles that are being distributed to girls. The two bicycles can be easily compared.”
Sanjeev Jha raised questions on the tender process
During this, Burari MLA Sanjeev Jha said, “We have come to the House to expose another scam of the BJP government: the bicycle scam. The bicycle I bought from the market for ₹4,000 was sold for ₹7,000, and 130,000 bicycles were purchased. Surprisingly, Hero Cycle Company was also involved in the tender process, but it was denied the tender, and a businessman received it. If a businessman is offering bicycles cheaper than the manufacturing company, it clearly indicates collusion. Minister Ashish Sood and his ministry have embezzled ₹90 crore. The BJP is continuously stealing medicines, bicycles, rice, and donations. This is a government of thieves, and all the thieves can be found in the BJP office.”

Kuldeep Kumar sought an answer from the government on the purchase price.
Meanwhile, Kondli MLA Kuldeep Kumar said, “Today we are going to the Delhi Assembly on the same bicycle that we bought from the market for Rs. 4,000, while the BJP government bought the same bicycle for Rs. 6,957. This government is completely deceitful and corrupt.” He asked, “Where can we find bicycle thieves? In Rekha Gupta’s government.” Today, AAP MLAs rode bicycles to the Assembly and protested against the corruption of the BJP’s Rekha Gupta government in the purchase of bicycles to be distributed to female students. The people of Delhi have only one question: when the same bicycles were available for Rs. 4,200, why was Rs. 6,957 paid per bicycle for the purchase of 1.30 lakh bicycles? This means a scam of approximately Rs. 3,000 per bicycle. Whose pocket did this money end up going into?”

Jarnail Singh alleges scam in purchase of bicycles for girls
Meanwhile, Tilak Nagar MLA Jarnail Singh said that bicycles that are easily available in the market for ₹4,000 are now purchased for ₹7,000 under Rekha Gupta’s government. The BJP’s greed for corruption has grown so much that they are now committing fraud even in girls’ bicycles. The government purchased 130,000 bicycles at ₹3,000 more. This BJP government, which has been involved in scams in medicines, hospital beds, bedsheets, and even shrouds, has now also committed a scam in girls’ bicycles. Today, the BJP government under Rekha Gupta will be asked in the House of Representatives why the scam in girls’ bicycles was perpetrated. The amount of money spent on this scam could have bought 100,000 more bicycles, and 100,000 more girls could have received them. The government should be ashamed of this.
