AAP workers took to the streets, ruckus at Harbhajan Singh’s house, ‘Traitor of Punjab’ written on the wall
Chandigarh, 25 April. Amidst the turmoil in the politics of Punjab after seven Rajya Sabha MPs led by Raghav Chadha left the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the anger of AAP workers is also visible on the streets.
In this sequence, party workers protested on the streets by wearing black bands. At the same time, ‘Traitor of Punjab’ was written in black paint outside the residence of former cricketer and MP Harbhajan Singh.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann launched a scathing attack on the MPs who left the party and termed them ‘traitors’. In a press conference held in Chandigarh, he said that these leaders have betrayed not only the Aam Aadmi Party but also the trust of the people of Punjab.
BJP accused of doing politics of defection
The Chief Minister alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party is doing politics of defection due to lack of political ground in Punjab. He said that BJP is trying to break the Aam Aadmi Party and for this it is adopting the strategy of fear, greed and pressure. Mann said that BJP’s uneasiness is clearly visible after the implementation of strict law against ‘sacrilege’ in Punjab.

Slogans written at Lovely Professional University
It is noteworthy that there is a lot of anger among AAP workers and the general public after Rajya Sabha members Harbhajan Singh, Ashok Mittal and Rajinder Gupta joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Slogans calling him a ‘traitor’ have been written at his homes and even at Lovely Professional University, which shows the level of anger among the people. Some have even announced not to get their children admitted in LPU in protest.
2027 Claim to return to Punjab in
Senior AAP leader in Jalandhar Pawan Kumar Tinu said that the AAP government will come back to power in Punjab in 2027 and the BJP will have no political ground left to stand. In desperation, the BJP has resorted to poaching AAP’s Rajya Sabha members on its side. He said that Congress, BJP and Akali Dal have formed an unholy alliance against AAP, due to which their leaders are giving similar statements about AAP MLAs joining BJP.
Meanwhile, AAP Punjab Youth Wing acting chief Parminder Goldy led a protest outside Rajinder Gupta’s house, where party workers raised slogans of ‘Punjab de Gaddar Murdabad’. He said that the people of Punjab will never forgive this betrayal. BJP is deeply scared of Arvind Kejriwal’s politics of development and governance and is trying to destabilize ‘AAP’ through conspiracies. These efforts will fail because every worker of AAP stands firmly with the party leadership and its vision.
AAP leaders reiterated that the party is united and committed to serving the people of Punjab. He claimed that those who broke the trust of Punjab will ultimately have to be held accountable before the people of the state.
